The founder of our cleaning service chose to leave her 40 to 50 hour a week job to be a “stay at home” mom and raise her four young children. Once her youngest started preschool, she decided to use her extra time to clean friends’ and family members’ apartments and homes for a little extra income. She quickly went from cleaning two or three homes a week to two or three a day. People began referring her to their own friends and family, and this led to the founding of Maids On Wheels. It is our company’s mission to help you keep your home in order, so you are able to keep your life in order. Everyone can use a helping hand, and that’s where we come in.
Our staff knows that cleaning your home or office is very personal, and you need a company you can trust. We have the experience and unique system to ensure your property is professionally cleaned to your satisfaction. Your happiness is the foundation of our business, and we pledge to offer the finest cleaning services while attending to your specific needs with personalized, custom cleaning.
From independent cleaning lady to a Cleaning Company: The Maids on Wheels Story
From One Mop to a Movement: The Maids on Wheels Story
It all started with a mop, a bucket, and a little free time.
Back in 1996, I was a stay-at-home mom looking for a way to stay active while my kids were at school. I offered to clean a few homes for friends and family, just as a favor – something small to keep me busy. Word got out quickly. Friends referred friends. One home turned into three, three into five, and soon I was cleaning more houses than I ever imagined.
That’s when I realized this wasn’t just a side hustle – it was a calling. I loved the transformation, the trust, and the relationships. So, I decided to go all in. My husband joined, then a few close friends and family members came on board, and together we built Maids on Wheels – your local cleaning company rooted in trust, reliability, and that personal touch you just don’t get with big franchises.
Today, we’re a close-knit team serving families across Bergen and Hudson counties. We still clean homes like they’re our own—because that’s how we started, and that’s how we stay true to what matters.
